ELIGIOUS FREEDOM IS AN INALIENABLE RIGHT, PROTECTED UNDER THE CONSTITUTION.

The Constitution enshrines as a fundamental right that Americans can practice their faith freely and openly in the public sphere. However, secular progressives — with much success — are committed to destroying our nation’s Judeo-Christian heritage and constitutional principles; consequently, individuals, businesses, and churches are finding their religious freedom stripped away by activist judges who have no accountability to the People.

The Founding Fathers believed that religion must be left to the conviction and conscience of every individual, and it is the right of every American to exercise their religious beliefs according to their conviction and conscience. The Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund advances and defends religious freedom and protects those who have been forced to yield their First Amendment rights for following their faith.

Religious Freedom Cases

Cathy Miller & Tastries Bakery

FCDF is defending Cathy Miller, a devout Christian and owner of Tastries Bakery, in Bakersfield, California, from a legal attack on her First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

Islamic Indoctrination in San Diego Unified School District

In April 2017, FCDF filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the San Diego Unified School District and its Board of Directors challenging the district’s implementation of an “anti-Islamophobia” initiative. The program would provide special accommodations to Muslim students and allow a controversial, terror-linked Islamist advocacy group full access to indoctrination students and distribute religious propaganda.

Skyline Wesleyan

In 2014, FCDF, along with Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), sued the California Department of Managed Health Care (CDMH) on behalf of Skyline Wesleyan Church for forcing the church as well as other churches to pay for elective abortions in their health insurance plans.
